RePurposed + ReConstructed ~ Vintage Heirloom Fur

Custom Made from your passed-down Grandmothers, Mothers, Aunties and distant relatives (sometimes even from the nice lady who doesn’t know what to do with her) Vintage Fur Coats… These often unwanted Family Heirlooms are RePurposed into Handmade Fur Throws + Throw Pillows.

Though Fur elicits a torrent of feelings, I cannot turn away from these sentimental + heart wrenching existing resources, when they are given to me to ReConstruct into something useful or simply brought to me as unwanted materials to ReDress. The existence of these old Fur garments in the present results from an antiquated ideal of luxury and status from our past generations. I will not turn away from this legacy in fashion in hopes that others will solve the waste problem by throwing them “away” with an out of sight and mind approach.

Instead, I choose to honour the connection of the animal, the owner’s family Herstory, and to embrace the existing resource. Mending these connections through the unwearable garment back into something sentimental, beautiful and purposeful.
